New From Amanda Murphy's Sewing Room

Hi There Everyone!

Brewer asked me here today to talk about a secret my secret they kept safe until BERNINA University.  It is my new collection with Benartex Sewing Room! This one is close to my heart as a BERNINA Quilting and Longarm Spokesperson because it has my very favorite sewing machines!

selection of fabrics from my “Sewing Room” collection for Benartex, shipping now!

I have some new patterns to go with this collection.  (I was so excited about them I pretty much had to tape my mouth shut before BU.)

First up is a new pieced block-of-the-month pattern called Sewing Room Sampler.

It is my favorite pattern EVER I think because it was such fun to sew and to quilt.  (I quilted it on my BERNINA Q 24 and Ill be talking about how I did so in my Facebook group later in the year.)  It is a larger pattern than my usual patterns – 16 pages full-color.  Shop owners can find the shop guide for this sampler here.

Next up is “S is for Sew”.  It is a fun project that incorporates appliqué and basic piecing and it comes with a download code with embroidery files for “in-the-hoop appliqué”, cutwork files and SVG files if youd like to digitally cut your fabric.  Shop owners have been asking me for this for awhile so that they can use it to teach classes.  This is something new for me so I’ll be anxious to see what you all think.

This pattern makes great use of my new Aurifil Appliqué Thread Collection, which lets you try the thicker weights of Aurifil threads in a variety of colors at an affordable price!  Plus, it goes with Feathers & Flourishes and my other fabric collections. I am a HUGE fan of the heavier weights of Aurifil thread for appliqué.

I also have a larger Aurifil Thread Collections Piecing and Quilting – it contains 11 large spools of 50 wt. and a spool of monofilament for people to try.  Aurifil monofilament is really soft and works well when paired with their 50 weight in the bobbin.

The third pattern is called “Sewing Garden”.  It is a simple pieced design made from two stacks of 10” squares.

Next month Ill be coming out a coordinating Sewing Room Quilting Collection as well for long arms and embroidery machines, similar to my Feathers & Flourishes Quilting Collection, which just started shipping as well.

There is also a coordinating embroidery collection available from OESD "Feathers & Flourishes by Amanda" for customers who are into embroidery.  I sure had fun stitching out those designs!

I hope you are enjoying the last of the summer.  Thanks for Brewer for inviting me to guest-post and happy quilting!
