Shannon Brinkley's Perfect Scrappy Applique

by Shannon Brinkley

If you have been quilting or sewing for any length of time, you likely have a pile (or many piles!) of scraps laying around-- so many oddly shaped, too tiny to make a block out of, but too pretty to toss pieces. I'm with you.

Austin Skyline-6

I developed and perfected my technique, Scrappy Applique, over the course of many years. My first book, Scrappy Bits Applique was published in the summer of 2014, and I am so pleased to now offer Scrappy Applique patterns! Scrappy Applique allows you to easily turn fabric scraps into lovely, collaged applique quilts! Wandering Bear Strip Quilt-3 A lot of thought and intention went into the creating of these patterns. I wanted to design them in such a way that facilitated creative exploration. I didn't want to merely write directions on how to replicate a single quilt I made; rather, I wanted to allow the maker to put his or her unique stamp on the project, and make the creative choices that suit their style, ability level, and preferences. Dryad Quilts-4 Scrappy Applique is absolutely approachable and beginner friendly, but it is also fresh and different and allows us to use up all of those scraps we've been hoarding! Thus ideal for beginners as well as experienced quilters. Each pattern comes with 4-6 different designs, each in 2-3 different sizes, as well as multiple finishing options. So you can create over 30 different projects with a single pattern! Processed with VSCOcam with hb1 preset We have 5 different patterns to choose from: 2 different animal themed patterns (Wild Animals and Feathered and Furry), one science-themed pattern (Science and Fiction), and 2 skylines patterns (U.S. Skylines and World Skylines). Scrappy Applique Tote-1 Robot Lovers Tea Towel Dryad Quilts-6 Scrappy Bunny Pillow-3 Chambray Oh Deer-6 The patterns include a large format template with the 4-6 different designs, each in 2-3 different sizes. Also included are detailed instructions that take you step by step through the Scrappy Applique process, as well as 6 different finishing options (crib quilt, lap quilt, wall hanging, tote bag, tea towel, throw pillow). Dryad Quilts-13 So grab those scraps, and get creative! Happy sewing! Shannon
