Spring is here, the days are getting longer, and little signs of life are starting to bloom everywhere you look.  And for those of us in the creative world, spring means BOLD and BRIGHT colors!  And this year, the Color Blocking trend is what everyone is talking about! 

Color blocking emphasizes colors you may be surprised to see paired together.  You’ve probably seen this trend with clothing, but it can also be incorporated in bags, shoes and other fashion accessories.  Here is a link to a fantastic video showing how to color blocking can be incorporated into a wardrobe: http://www.refinery29.com/colorblocking-how-to-video.  

How does this translate to quilting? Well, color blocking in the quilting world and has grown in popularity over the years.  The concept is similar: Begin with colors in the same family to add a base and then add splashes of complementary colors throughout the design to create visual appeal.  Here are some examples of quilt Color Blocking from our friends at Cluck Cluck Sew:  http://www.cluckclucksew.com/2009/02/color-block-quilt.html
